My Stepmom Is From Nigeria, Ghana President, Mahama Reveals

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed a top secret about himself and how he is indirectly connected to Nigeria.

Truth Live News Media reports that the Ghanian President revealed the top secret in his recent interactions with the Premium Times.

Mahama said that his stepmother comes from Offa, in Kwara State, a place he has since seen as his hometown in Nigeria.

President Mahama’s link to Nigeria stems from his childhood, during which his father was exiled to Nigeria following a military coup in Ghana.

He said during that period, he lived with his Nigerian stepmother in Offa for several years, forming a close bond with the community.

Highlighting his ties to the region, Mahama shared that he was honoured with a chieftaincy title by the Oloffa of Offa, making him the Aare Atolase of the Offa Kingdom.

This recognition reflects the enduring cultural ties between Ghana and Nigeria and underscores Mahama’s personal connection to the Nigerian community.

Speaking about his background, Mahama stated, “My stepmother is Nigerian, and she raised me.

“She is from Offa in Kwara State.”

Reflecting on his time in Offa, he said, “When there was a coup in Ghana, my father lived in exile in Nigeria, and I stayed with my stepmother for many years in Offa. I know Offa very well.”

However it is believed that as President Mahama continues his leadership, his connection to Nigeria is likely to influence his foreign policy decisions, fostering closer collaboration between the two West African neighbors.
