Last Quest Of Founder Of Project Charilove, Omusi Before His Death

Omusi

For Mr. Chris Omusi, Founder of Project Charilove, Benin, his passion for those who are deformed in one way or the other, especially, children, knows no bounds.

This was demonstrated in his last media chat with Journalists in Benin where he poured out his mind, not for himself but for the imates residing in the facilities.

He also spoke about the situation in St. Lucy Government Primary School in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

Addressing Journalists on that day, he raised the concern over the continuous flooding of the home with persons with mental related ailments.

Mr. Omusi said that bringing such persons to the home, negates the essence for which the foundation was set up.

Omusi said that such persons, pose a great risk to other imates and to the facilities.

He said such persons should have in the first instance, taken to the psychiatric hospital and not to the Project Charilove.

Speaking on the state of St. Lucy Government Primary School in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, the Founder of Project Charilove, said that the school which was established in 1933 with the mission of educating the children of ex-lepers, is now left with only two teachers and in a terrible state.

While calling for urgent government intervention, he pointed out that the school had three teachers the previous year, to handle nine classrooms of eager but neglected pupils.

He further appealed to the government and those concerned to take urgent steps in deploying more teachers to the school.
He also appealed to those concerned to up the subventions to the foundation so that the inmates can have a better life.

However, now that the founder who had abandoned his comfort zone to take care of those with some physical disabilities is no more, he will be glad wherever he is that those challenges he pointed out before his death, are urgently addressed so that the inmates can have a better life and education.

It should be noted that the late Omusi was an engineer by profession and was registered by the Engineers Registration Board of the British Council of Engineering Institutions, courtesy of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in association with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

He underwent a strategic and intensive post-graduate diploma programme in Industrial Management.

His life guiding principle: “Be absolutely loyal to the LORD GOD of all creations and treat others the way you would like others to treat you and your loved ones”.

It is also to be noted that ChariLove Foundation (aka Project ChariLove) is a needs-focused, needs-driven, improvement-oriented and child-prioritized humanitarian service organization.

ChariLove is down-to-earth practical and doing everything exemplary on issues of advocacy for the protection, empowerment, liberation and dignity of every life, particularly of the child and youth in need.
