West Brom defender Semi Ajayi may likely miss Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March after suffering a hamstring injury.
Ajayi was forced off in the first half of West Brom’s 2-0 victory over Oxford United and will be sidelined for several weeks.
The injury, which occurred in the 41st minute of the match at The Hawthorns, has come as a significant setback for both Ajayi’s club and country.

Nigeria’s head coach Eric Chelle will now have to make defensive adjustments ahead of their crucial fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, as they seek to revive their World Cup hopes.
Ajayi, who has earned 41 caps for Nigeria since making his debut in 2018, has been a key figure in the national team’s defense.
His leadership and experience will be missed as the Super Eagles look to improve their standing in the group.
For West Brom, Ajayi’s injury also poses a challenge as they continue their push for promotion in the Championship.
